The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) has released the results of the 2022 CIAA Women's Volleyball Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason All-CIAA Team. The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings were voted first in the Northern Division and second overall behind the 2021 CIAA champions, Fayetteville State University.
 
In the Northern Division, the Vikings were voted No. 1 by the CIAA coaches. Behind ECSU was Shaw University, followed by Virginia State University, Bowie State University, Virginia Union University, and Lincoln University (PA).
 
In the South, the Broncos of FSU were voted to the top spot followed by Claflin University, Winston-Salem State University, Saint Augustine's University, Johnson C. Smith University and Livingstone College.
 
Outside hitter Jada Rouse and setter/right side Claire Kellum, both 2021 All-CIAA selections were voted to the 2022 Preseason All-CIAA Volleyball Team, along with teammate, libero Naijya Leggett.
 
"To have 3 preseason All-CIAA players and to be voted to finish so high in the CIAA in only my 2nd season is definitely exciting," explained head coach David Brooks.  "However, we know championships and division crowns are not won on paper or in preseason polls and we have a lot of work to do to be one of the two teams playing in Salem on November 12th."
 
The 2022 season gets underway on August 26 at the Davis and Ekins Tournament when they take on Lock Haven University at 9 AM. CIAA play beings when the Vikings play host to Virginia Union University on Sept. 15, at 6 pm, in the Vaughan Center.
