BOWIE, Md. – Elizabeth City State University volleyball wrapped up a competitive weekend at the CIAA Round-Up in Bowie, Maryland, playing four matches in three days against league opponents. The Vikings battled through several tight sets and five-set contests, showing resilience throughout the event despite coming away with four hard-fought losses to Bowie State, Shaw, Fayetteville State, and Livingstone.
Bowie State 3, Elizabeth City State 2

Elizabeth City State opened its road weekend with a tight five-set battle at Bowie State, falling 3–2 (25–27, 25–14, 17–25, 25–21, 15–13) in a non-round-up matchup played Friday evening at A.C. Jordan Arena. The contest was scheduled separately from the CIAA Round-Up, giving both programs an additional conference opportunity since ECSU was already traveling to Bowie for the weekend.
The Vikings traded momentum throughout the night, taking the opening set 27–25 and responding with another win in the third to force a decisive fifth frame. ECSU totaled 42 kills as a team, led by
Summer McGee's 11, while
Clarke Blakemore and
Jorja Hoffman each added nine.
Setter
Serenity Lunnermon orchestrated the attack with 36 assists and also served four aces, while
Paola Gonzalez anchored the back row with 17 digs. At the net,
Christen Brisbane posted three blocks to lead the defense.
Bowie State finished with a narrow edge in kills (50–42) and digs (67–60), pulling away late in the fifth set to seal the win before a home crowd of 278 fans.
Shaw 3, Elizabeth City State 1

Elizabeth City State opened play at the CIAA Round-Up with a competitive four-set battle against Shaw University, falling 3–1 (25–16, 16–25, 20–25, 20–25) Saturday afternoon at A.C. Jordan Arena.
After a strong first-set performance, the Vikings couldn't maintain their early momentum as Shaw's balanced attack took control over the final three frames. ECSU hit .281 in the second set and finished with 37 kills as a team, led by
Clarke Blakemore's 11.
Jorja Hoffman followed with nine kills, while
Summer McGee added seven.
Setter
Serenity Lunnermon tallied 30 assists and contributed a block and ace, while
Christen Brisbane led the service line with three aces. Defensively, Hoffman notched a team-high 10 digs, with
Paola Gonzalez and
Sydnee White each adding seven.
Fayetteville State 3, Elizabeth City State 0

Elizabeth City State continued play at the CIAA Round-Up on Sunday morning, falling in straight sets to Fayetteville State, 3–0 (16–25, 10–25, 13–25), at A.C. Jordan Arena.
The Broncos' attack applied steady pressure throughout, holding the Vikings to a -.051 hitting percentage while registering 30 kills and 13 aces as a team.
Jorja Hoffman led ECSU with five kills, followed by
Christen Brisbane with four and
Clarke Blakemore with three.
Setter
Serenity Lunnermon tallied 11 assists and a team-best seven digs, while Brisbane and Hoffman each added an ace.
Andrea Rose anchored the front line defensively with two blocks as the Vikings worked to slow the Fayetteville offense.

Elizabeth City State battled through a back-and-forth five-set match against Livingstone College on Sunday afternoon at A.C. Jordan Arena, ultimately falling 3–2 (26–28, 20–25, 25–21, 28–26, 15–6).
The Vikings traded sets with the Blue Bears throughout, keeping each frame competitive. ECSU tallied 56 kills as a team, led by
Jorja Hoffman's 16,
Christen Brisbane's 14, and
Andrea Rose's 13.

Serenity Lunnermon ran the offense with 46 assists and added 11 digs, while
Paola Gonzalez contributed 15 digs and two service aces.
