ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Two Elizabeth City State Vikings were selected to the HBCU D2 All-America team after a successful 2024-25 individual campaign, released by BOXTOROW on Wednesday afternoon.
Headlining the team for the Vikings were Xavier Tubbs-Matthews and Dericko Williams garnering Second Team All-American accolades.
Xavier Tubbs-Matthews, All-CIAA Backcourt, paced the Vikings offensively averaging 13.2 points, 4.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. The sophomore from Fayetteville, N.C. posted career-highs in points and assists this season with a 30-point and 11 assist outing against Mount Olive.
Dericko Williams collected another postseason honor after being named CIAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-CIAA Frontcourt honors. Williams tallied a near double-double for the season with 13.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per outing. The graduate student from Kinston, N.C. notched 12 double-doubles on the year including seven in CIAA action.
