ECSU Takes Down Bulldogs at Home, 72-62

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- Elizabeth City State secured a 72–62 conference victory over Bowie State on Feb. 5 at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

The Vikings improved to 3–15 overall and 2–10 in CIAA play with the win, while Bowie State moved to 5–17 overall and 3–8 in the conference.

Elizabeth City State held a narrow 32–28 lead at halftime after a competitive first half. The Vikings maintained control in the second half, outscoring Bowie State 40–34 to preserve the double-digit victory.

Terence Thorbs led the Vikings with a game-high 20 points, converting 12-of-16 attempts from the free throw line while adding six rebounds. Donovan Flamer recorded 16 points and eight rebounds, and Trevor Smith contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.

Jaquantae Harris added nine points and four rebounds, while Braylon Wheeler contributed four points and three assists.

Elizabeth City State shot an efficient 47.6 percent from the field and finished strong at the free throw line, converting 29-of-39 attempts. The Vikings also held a 36–29 rebounding advantage and recorded 14 fast-break points.

Bowie State was led by Jaiden McGhee with 14 points and Charles Thomas III with 13 points.
