Flournoy drops 21 points in Vikings 72-67 win over Apprentice School

Box Score

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Elizabeth City State men's basketball team took on The Apprentice School defeating them 72-67 in their ninth game of the season on Saturday night. The Vikings improve their seasonal stance just one more game before an even .500 (4-5 overall, 0-0 CIAA). The Apprentice School would be the ideal team to break the losing streak with its worst record in it's own conference. The first half was dominated by the Vikings as they led 39-20 and tallied 45 percent from the field.

In the second half, the team pulled out to a 21-point lead by the 14:29 mark and never looked back until the Vikings became out of sync and shooting low percentages, struggling to contain the Apprentice's transition and climb back out in front the game. With 8:30 remaining, The Builders dropped a three-pointer putting the team back in the game with a three possession ball game. The Apprentice School was able to trim the deficit to just three points with 2:42 left in regulation before Elizabeth City went on a 7-0 run to seal the victory, 72-67. Sophomore Jaden Flournoy scored 21 points, which ties him with himself for a personal game high.
