Vikings Last Time Out and General Outlook – Women's Basketball

Naterria Luster led all scorers with 18 points, while Jalyn Brown and Asia Deal both scored in double figures for the Vikings as they cruised to a 58-47 win over the home standing Hawks. Defensively, ECSU had a sterling effort as they held the Hawks to just 31 percent scoring from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. ECSU connected on 75 percent of their free throws and registered 12 steals on the afternoon.

Luster continues to pace the ECSU scoring attack while averaging 19 points per contest. The Vikings are currently 12-7 overall, 4-4 in conference play and 1-0 in North Division play.

Scouting the Lions – Women's Basketball

Lincoln comes into the contest with a 10-9 record overall, a 4-4 record in CIAA play and a 1-0 record in North Division play after a 66-61 win over, previously unbeaten in CIAA play, Bowie State on Saturday. The Lions do have a very interesting stat in the fact that they have posted a 3-5 record at home and a better 7-3 record away from the friendly confines of Rivero Hall. The Lions also registered a win against a Division 1 opponent in Morgan State by a 51-46 margin back on November 6th.

Kwanza Murray paces the Lincoln scoring attack with a 19.4 points per game average, while DeAshia Young is the only other Lincoln player averaging in double figures with a 14.4 ppg mark.

Vikings Last Time Out and General Outlook – Men's Basketball

Both teams would trade the lead back and forth with neither team being able to garner more than a five-point lead over the other until the 8:00 mark left in the second half. After a Corey Mendez lay-up with 7:54 left to go in the second half to bring the Vikings to within three at 53-50, both teams would endure a 2:30 minute scoring drought before Demetrius Sanders would hit a lay-up with 5:15 left in the game to push the Chowan lead to five. Chowan would buckle down defensively and force ECSU into three turnovers and would convert those to six points to push their lead to nine with 2:50 left in the second half. That nine-point margin would be the final margin as Chowan would win 64-55.

The Vikings are currently being led offensively by John Maynor who scores at a 12 point per game clip. Shyheid Petteway (11 ppg) and Justin Faison (10 ppg) are the other Vikings who are averaging in double figure scoring. The Vikings come into the contest with a 10-9 record overall, 7-2 in the CIAA and 0-1 in the North Division.

Scouting the Lions – Men's Basketball

Lincoln comes into the contest with an 11-8 record overall, a 4-4 mark in conference play and a 0-1 record in North Division play following a 78-73 loss at Bowie State on Saturday afternoon. The Lions are currently on a four game losing streak after suffering defeats at Fayetteville State, Saint Augustine's, Shaw and Bowie State and will be playing at home for the first time since an 80-59 win over Shepherd on January 5th. Lincoln currently sports an 8-2 record inside of Rivero Hall.

The Lions are led by Cameron Campbell and Deaquan Williams who average 14.6 and 13.4 points per game respectfully. Lincoln relies on stout defensive efforts as they average forcing 16 turnovers a game while only committing 13 themselves. They turn those turnovers into, on average, five more points a game than their opponents which just happens to be their average scoring margin difference in a contest.
