SCOUTING THE HAWKS – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Â
Chowan, like ECSU, has been road warriors over the past couple of weeks as they made the same southern swing that ECSU made last weekend. The Hawks dropped a contest at Johnson C. Smith but rallied to win the final two games of the road trip over Winston-Salem State and Livingstone. The Hawks have played extremely well within the walls of the Helms Center having notched a 6-2 record at home this season. Chowan also has posted a 6-1 record in conference play and a 10-6 record overall. Danielle Weldon leads the Chowan offensive attack, averaging 13.8 points per contest.

CATCHING UP WITH THE VIKINGS – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Â
The Vikings are on game five of a six game road trip. As a part of the road trip, the Vikings went faced Southern Division foes Livingstone, Johnson C. Smith and Winston-Salem State last weekend. ECSU defeated Livingstone but dropped close contests to JCSU and WSSU. The Vikings currently sit at 11-7 overall, 4-4 in CIAA play and 4-3 away from the friendly confines of the R.L. Vaughan Center. ECSU has looked to
Naterria Luster throughout the season to provide an offensive spark and the junior is averaging 18.8 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per contest.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS – MEN'S BASKETBALL
Â
When looking at the 2018-19 edition of the Chowan Hawks the stat that stands out is the Hawks spotless 9-0 record inside of the Holmes Center. The Vikings fell victim to that perfect record back on November 28
th by a 79-62 final score. Before last Thursday the Hawks were pacing the CIAA in both conference record and overall record but have lost three straight as they dropped contests to Johnson C. Smith, Winston-Salem State and Livingstone. The Hawks currently sit at 10-4 overall and 3-3 in CIAA play. Timothy Bing is leading the fast paced Chowan offense back racking in 17.4 points per contest. However, the Hawks have four other players who average in double figures on the season.
Â
"NEVER COUNT OUT THE VIKINGS"
Â
That statement has become the battle cry for the 2018-19 campaign for the Vikings. Since December 13
th, the Vikings have posted a 7-1 record and have trailed in the second half of all of those victories. As a recap to last weekend, the Vikings lost a close contest at Livingstone but then defeated Johnson C. Smith and beat Winston-Salem State in overtime. The game against Chowan marks the sixth straight road game and the Vikings have fared decent away from the R.L. Vaughan Center, posting a 4-6 record. The Vikings sit at 10-8 overall and 7-1 in CIAA play. ECSU boasts four players that average in double figures but are being led by
John Maynor who is averaging 11.9 points per contest.
