Basketball Look Ahead – November 27
 
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University basketball teams will be back in action this week for a full slate of games. The women's team will be facing off against Newport News Apprentice at home on Wednesday night and will be welcoming Virginia University of Lynchburg for a Saturday afternoon tilt. The men's team will be on the road for their last contest of a four game road trip as they face Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Chowan University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OUTLOOK
 
ECSU sits at 2-3 after a hard fought loss to undefeated Barton, 63-58, on November 19th. The Vikings were led by junior guard DeNayia Holmes who had one of her best outings in a Viking uniform, scoring 13 points and playing a season high 38 minutes in the contest.
 
The Vikings are being led by junior Naterria Luster who is pacing the team with 16.8 points per contest and 11.4 rebounds per game. Newcomer Asia Deal also averages in double figures, pouring in 13.8 points per contest and senior Asia Deal is averaging 10.2 points per contest while pitching in a team leading 15 steals on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE BUILDERS AND DRAGONS
 
Newport News Apprentice comes into the contest with ECSU sporting a 1-1 record, following an 84-57 defeat of conference rival Stratford University before the Thanksgiving break. The Builders are led by freshman guard Jordan Wilson who scored 20 points in the win against Stratford. The Builders only have seven players on the roster but five out of those seven scored in double figures in the win on November 19th.
 
Not much is known on the Virginia University of Lynchburg Dragons as this will be their season opener for the 2018-2019 campaign.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL OUTLOOK
 
The Vikings continue their extended road trip with a short trip up Highway 158 to face rival Chowan. ECSU has played back-to-back contests against nationally ranked teams and fell just short in their latest contest at USC Aiken, 83-75, on Sunday afternoon. ECSU sports a 2-4 record overall heading into the Wednesday contest at the Helms Center.
 
ECSU is being led by sophomore Zaccheus Hobbs who is averaging 17.8 points per game along with shooting a blistering 57.5 percent from the field for the season. Shyheid Petteway and John Maynor are averaging 12.7 and 12.3 points per game respectfully for ECSU.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks come into the contest against ECSU with a 4-0 record and having defeated the University of Mount Olive on the road on Saturday afternoon, 94-82. Chowan was led offensively by junior guard Timothy Bing who scored 25 points on the afternoon on 8-of-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from behind the arc.
 
On the season the Hawks are being led by senior guard Demetrius Sanders who is averaging 16.5 points per game and shooting 50 percent from the field. Timothy Bing has chipped in 15 points per game on 51.4 percent shooting. Ja'Darien Wade is leading all Hawks scorers with 23.5 points per game but hasn't seen game action since a November 15th tilt against Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
