Vikings look to snap two game skid

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Following a five-day break for Thanksgiving the Elizabeth City State University basketball team gets back to business with a road trip to the University of South Carolina Aiken on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off for the contest is slated for 3:30 p.m. inside of the Convocation Center on the campus of USC Aiken.

The Vikings, who sit at 2-3 on the season, are coming off a loss at 20th ranked Barton on Tuesday evening. ECSU never led in the contest but kept the contest close throughout the first half before Barton pulled away behind a 9-0 run in the first minutes of the second half and continued with a strong second half shooting effort. The Bulldogs shot 58.1 percent from the field while the Vikings were limited to just 40.3 percent shooting in the second half of play.

The Pacers are coming off of an eight-day break from play after defeating North Greenville University 100-70 back on November 17th. USC Aiken was led by Doniel Dean's game-high 22 points. He also dished out a game-best seven assists and three thefts. Faison Brock and Ty'lik Evans added 18 points apiece while Xzavier Barmore and Robert Hill contributed nine markers each. Hill snagged a game-high nine rebounds. For the game, USC Aiken hit 35-of-65 from the floor (53.8 percent), including 13-of-31 from three-point range (41.9 percent).

The Pacers have been stout on both ends of the floor this season as four players are averaging double figure scoring and the team is outscoring their opponents by, on average, 16 points per contest.

For the Vikings offensively, it comes down to Zaccheus Hobbs, Shyheid Petteway and John Maynor who are all averaging in double figures. ECSU has outshot their opponents for the season as they have shot 48 percent and have limited their opponents to just 44 percent.
