Ettrick, Va - Miykael Faulcon scored a game-high 19 points to lead Elizabeth City State (8-11, CIAA: 5-7) to a 64-61 victory over Virginia State (16-5, CIAA: 10-2) Monday night
It was on the second conference loss of the season for VSU and gave the Vikings their first northern division win in six tries.
ECSU jumped out to a 34-29 halftime lead thanks to 57% shooting from the field. For the entire game, the Vikings made six of 17 from behind the 3-point line. The Vikings led by as many as 10 points in the game and withstood a strong second-half run by the Trojans thanks to 75% shooting from the free throw line.
DeCarlos Anderson chipped in 14 points to the Vikings total and was second to Faulcon (10 rebounds) with seven boards.
Kevin Williams led VSU with 15 points followed by Elijah Moore with 12. Te'Quan Alers came off the bench to score 10 points.
Next on the Vikings' schedule is a trip to Pennsylvania to face Lincoln University on February 10. ECSU hopes to pick up its second straight CIAA northern division victory against the Lincoln Lions.
