ELIZABETH CITY, NC-Virginia State University improved to 13-5 overall and 4-0 in the CIAA Northern Division with a convincing 67-52 win over Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.

The Vikings have lost 8 of their last 10 and are in the midst of a seven game losing skid.

After taking a 28-23 lead at the intermission, the Trojans exploded with an 18-5 run midway through the second half. A dunk by Alphonso Leary with 6:41 remaining put VSU up 55-36 and two free throws by Elijah Moore at the 5:25 mark game the Trojans their biggest lead of the night (21 point spread) 59-38.

The 52 points scored by the Vikings represents their lowest point total of the 2014-2015 season. Tyrece Little scored a team high 15 points for the Trojans while Tyler Peterson chipped in with 13 points.

Miykael Faulcon led the Vikings in scoring with 19 while Darrell Ward contributed 11 points off the bench.

The smallest deficit ECSU faced in the second half was a five point margin (30-25) with 19:29 on the clock.

ECSU (9-13, CIAA 2-7) will take on Virginia Union University on Wednesday at the RL Vaughan Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
