FAULCON'S CAREER NIGHT SPOILED IN VIKINGS' 89-82 LOSS TO CHOWAN HAWKS

MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University Hawks rallied from a double digit deficit to upend Elizabeth City State University 89-82 on Saturday at the Helms Center.

For the second time in as many games Miykael Faulcon poured in a career best 26 points, this time setting a new personal mark with seven made three pointers.

The Vikings led the entire contest and were up 62-51 until a 15-0 run gave the Hawks their first lead of the game 65-62 with 10:54 remaining. ECSU reclaimed the lead 69-68 on a jumper by Dominique Byrd before the Hawks went back in front after two free throws and a layup by Ashante Ross.

Faulcon hit back to back threes and DeCarlos Anderson hit a layup put the Vikings up 77-74 with 3:33 to go only to have Phoenix Butler-Poole tied the game at 77 with a shot from beyond the three-point arc. The Hawks then extended their lead to five points after an empty Viking possession and turnover led to a layup (Tiron Brown) and unconventional three-point play by Warren Powers.

Chowan (9-12, CIAA 3-8) who earns their first division win of the season, closed out the game at the free throw line while the Vikings hit only one field goal in the final three and a half minutes of the contest.

The two teams combined for 52 fouls on the evening, 32 of which were whistled against the Vikings. Chowan shot 34-40 free throws on the night to a 19-28 outing for ECSU.
