ELIZABETH CITY, NC- DeCarlos Anderson scored a game high 19 points as the Elizabeth City State Vikings rolled past Mid-Atlantic Christian University 92-50.
Brachon Griffin scored 18 points off the bench for ECSU, Jermaine Brown chipped in with 14 while Elon Edwards added had 5 points, 10 assists and 5 steals on the evening.
The Viking shot at a 52% clip for the game including a sizzling 61% in the second half. ECSU also held a commanding rebounding edge, 45-25 over the Mustangs and outscored MACU 54-14 in the paint.
Marquice Sims was the only Mustang in double figures with 15 points on 5-16 shooting. The Vikings jumped out to an early lead and on a layup by Kentrell Key at the 14:30 mark, ECSU held an 18-3 advantage. The Mustangs then rallied with an 8-0 run to pull within five points (18-13) on a basket and free throw by Alex Whitley. ECSU responded with a 28-8 scoring spurt to take a 46-21 lead into the locker room.
David Barron opened the second half with a three-pointer to make the score 46-24 but that 22 point deficit was the smallest margin the Mustangs (1-7) would see the rest of the way. The Vikings held their largest lead of 47 points (86-39) with 8:02 left in the game.
