ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Amere May capped a double-double performance a game winner to give Saint Augustine's University a 68-66 victory over Elizabeth City State University Friday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

May's biggest and final basket of the game came with three seconds left to give the Falcons a two point lead. Glenn Patterson got a good look at a three-pointer as the final horn sounded but it missed its mark and Saint Augustine's held on for the narrow triumph.

Game winner aside, May finished the night with 29 points and 10 rebounds while Joel Kindred added a double-double of 10 and 10.

The Viking offense was sluggish in the opening half, as ECSU connected on only 7-27 shots from the field. The Falcons were only slightly better at 12-31 from the field but at one point built a 12 point lead at the 13:07 mark.

ECSU trailed 34-27 at the break but outscored the Falcons by five (39-34) in the second half. The Vikings also shot a solid 47 % from the floor in the second half however they yielded 48% to Saint Augustine's and were outrebounded by the Falcons 47-32 overall.

The Vikings battled back from a double digit deficit to tie the game twice, the latter when a layup by Jaron Moore knotted the game a 66 with 15 seconds left.

Dominique Byrd finished with team highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds for ECSU.
