TAKOMA PARK, MD- Anthony Berry's jumper with 55 seconds left proved to be the go ahead score as Washington Adventist University rallied from behind to defeat Elizabeth City State University 83-79 Saturday night at The Pitt.
The Shock trailed 50-38 at the intermission and by as many as 16 in the first half. However WAU saw a seven point turnaround in the second half with Berry's jumper prevailing as the game winner as The Shock moves to 3-1 on the year.
After the 50 point scoring surge in the first half on 65% shooting, the Vikings were outscored 45-29 in the second half. ECSU placed four in double figures led by Shaquil Barber's team high 17 points. Glenn Patterson and Dominique Byrd added 14 apiece while Darrell Ward added a double-double of 11 points and 11 boards.
The Vikings also had a season high 18 turnovers which the Shock converted into 26 points. From the free throw line ECSU also left points on the board in the four point loss, converting 17 of 29 attempts. The Shock shot 87% from the free throw line (29-33) and was led by Jawuan Lockhart's 21 points.
