ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Angelo Sharpless scored a season high 29 points as the Elizabeth City State University Vikings blew by Washington Adventist University 82-54 Tuesday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
Since dropping their season opener the Vikings have won four straight.
Sharpless scored 23 points in 15 minutes in the first half on 7-12 shooting from the field and going 7-7 from the free throw line. The Vikings dominated the glass in the opening half 24-11 and blanked the Shock in second chance points (12-0), points off turnovers (11-0) and fast break points (10-0). WAU connected on only 9-26 attempts from the floor in the first 20 minutes and trailed 45-23 at the break.
The Vikings averaged at 20 point lead for the rest of the game and dominated boards with a rebounding edge of 45-27. Ade Barek and Jaron Moore shared the team high for rebounds with 8 apiece. Barek added 11 points as ECSU's only other double figure scorer.
Joshua Adeyeye and Harvey Todd scored 14 apiece for the Shock who slip to 1-6 overall on the season.
