ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Angelo Sharpless scored a season high 27 points as the Elizabeth City State University Vikings cruised past Bluefield College 87-55 Friday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
Sharpless followed up a perfect 5-5 from the field for 12 point output in the opening half with 15 second half points; The Vikings shot 47% in the closing half to blow open what was a 40-30 halftime lead. ECSU out-rebounded the Rams 51-27 in the game and grabbed 20 offensive boards which led to 20 second chance points.
Ade Barek went 5-5 from the floor on the evening and finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards while Glenn Patterson rounded out the double figure scorers with 13 points off the bench.
Byron Carpenter topped the Rams (4-2) in scoring with 20 points. Despite Carpenter's efficiency in the post, the Vikings outscored Bluefield in the paint 44-22.
