MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University Hawks shot a blistering 60 % from the floor, including a 63% mark in the second half, rallying to defeat Elizabeth City State University 80-72 Thursday evening at the Helms Center.
The Hawks' surged in the second half, outscoring the Vikings 48-33 after trailing by 14 in the first stanza and 39-32 at the intermission. Chowan connected on 7 of 13 3-point attempts in the second half and behind 11 points from reserve guard Lee Branscome outscored the ECSU bench 25-13. Branscome finished the game with 19 points while Quinton McDuffie led all scorers with 22 points.
By game's end bench scoring favored the Hawks (7-14, CIAA 1-8) 44-26.
Quintin Spady led the Vikings in scoring with 15 points while Angelo Sharpless and Omar Jones netted 13 apiece.
