ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Bowie State University blew the game open in the first half with some hot three-point shooting on their way to a 89-64 win over Elizabeth City State University Monday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
The Bulldogs scored 50 points in the first half, including eight three-pointers, on 51% shooting from the field. The points totals for the half (50) and game (89) are the most the Vikings have given up this season.
While Bowie State had no problem scoring, the Vikings struggled offensively on the evening finishing with a season low 33 % on 23-68 from the floor. The Bulldogs led 50-32 at halftime and continuing their hot shooting, pushed the lead to as many as 29 (67-38) with 13:52 left in the game.
Byron Westmorland, who hit 5 from beyond the arc, led the Bulldog charge with 21 points while Darren Clark finished with 16 points and 9 assists. Bowie State moves to 14-3 overall and 6-2 in the CIAA.
Marquie Cooke led ECSU with team highs of 16 points and 8 rebounds.
