BALANCED SCORING LEADS ECSU PAST CLAFLIN 67-46

GARY, IN- Elizabeth City State University placed four in double figures as the Vikings topped Claflin University 67-46 Saturday afternoon at the Genesis Convention Center.

After holding a 26-20 advantage at halftime the Vikings went on a scoring tear in the second half, shooting 61% from the field (12-19). A three-pointer by Lawrence Williams sparked a 15-6 run and with 8:47 remaining in the game ECSU was ahead 45-30. The Panthers struggled against the Vikings' zone defense in the second half, hitting only 4 shots from the floor in the game's final eight minutes.

Paul Goldsmith netted 12 points for ECSU while Williams added 11 points off the bench. Marquie Cooke and B.J. Williams scored 10 apiece with Cooke adding 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals.
