BOWIE, MD- The Bowie State University Bulldogs rode a 10-point halftime lead to a 69-61 win over Elizabeth City State University Tuesday night at AC Jordan Arena.
The Bulldogs were paced by 14 points apiece from Duke Crews and Andrew Engel. The Bulldogs victory drops ECSU to 1-3 in the Eastern Division race while BSU improves to 3-2 overall.
The Vikings committed 14 first half turnovers which lead to 17 Bowie State (10-8, CIAA 7-4) first half points. The Bulldogs held a 39-29 halftime lead.
ECSU trailed by double digits for most of the second stanza but managed to cut the BSU lead to 5 (59-54) with 4:25 remaining. However back to back scores by Curtis Massey on the Bulldog's next two possessions pushed the home team's lead back to nine and BSU would hold their advantage over the closing minutes.
Anthony Hilliard led all scorers with 18 points while DeJuan Morrison and Trent Bivens added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
