PANTHERS DOWN ECSU VIKINGS 80-71

RICHMOND, VA-Virginia Union University kept their record unblemished in the CIAA Eastern Division with an 80-71 win over Elizabeth City State University Saturday evening at Barco-Stevens Gymnasium.

Anthony Hilliard collected his 49th career double-double with a game high 27 points and 14 rebounds. Richmond native Demond Hickman scored his second consecutive (career) double with 10 points and 14 boards. The Vikings were +12 (49-37) in rebounding against the Panthers.

Although the Vikings committed only 11 turnovers in the contest, the Panthers (12-3, CIAA 7-2) capitalized on each, scoring 19 points off of ECSU miscues. The Panthers never trailed in the contest and had a 41-33 advantage at the intermission. Gregg Thondique led Virginia Union with a team high 22 points.
