Final Stats

CHARLOTTE, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Vikings suffered a 67-62 defeat at the hands of Fayetteville State University Thursday afternoon in the first men's quarterfinal of the 2008 CIAA Basketball Tournament at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

In the five point loss the Vikings (20-7) shot 7-for-19 from the free throw line and surrendered 18 offensive rebounds to the Broncos. As a result Fayetteville State got extra shots at the basket which were converted into 13 second chance points.

The Broncos will move on to face the winner of the Shaw University/Bowie State University matchup which will tip-off at 9:00pm on Thursday night at 9:00pm.

Phillipe Harris led three FSU players in double figures with a game high 31 points.

Anthony Hilliard and Olajuwon Johnson both tallied double-doubles for the Vikings. Hilliard posted 16 points and 12 rebounds while Johnson scored a team high 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds of his own.
