VIKINGS CRASH THE BOARDS; DEFEAT SAINT PAUL'S 84-67

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Anthony Hilliard totaled 23 points and tied a career high with 21 rebounds as the Elizabeth City State Vikings downed Saint Paul's College 84-67 Saturday evening at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

Behind Hilliard's rebounding dominance the Vikings doubled their opponents on the boards, controlling the glass 46-26. ECSU converted 14 offensive rebounds into 17 second chance points while their bench outscored the Tigers' reserves a whopping 33 to 8. Lansen Leach provided a spark off the bench for ECSU, scoring 9 of his 11 points in the first half while Olajuwon Johnson rounded out the double figure scorers with 15 points.

Bruce Royal led all scorers with a game high 30 points and Adrian Moffatt contributed 16 points in the losing effort. The Tigers drop to 7-12, overall and 3-11 in conference play.

The win extends the Vikings' streak to 10 games and they continue to boast an unblemished record at home at 9-0.

ECSU (17-4, CIAA 11-3) will host the University of the District of Columbia in non-conference action on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30pm at the R.L. Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
