ECSU DEFEATS CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY 74-73 IN OVERTIME

MILWAUKEE,WI-The Elizabeth City State Vikings improved to 4-0 overall with a 74-73 overtime victory over Central State University (OH) Friday afternoon in game two of the 2008 Fresh Coast Classic held at US Cellular Arena.

The Vikings now move onto Saturday's championship game where they will face Morehouse College. The Maroon Tigers defeated Talladega College in the tournament's first contest 89-68. The championship game is scheduled for 4:00pm tomorrow, with the consolation game starting at 1:00pm between Central State and Talladega.

The Vikings trailed 73-72 with 30 seconds remaining in the extra session. ECSU's defense forced Darryl Brownlee to pick up his dribble just across mid-court and Mel Johnson reached in and created a tie-up. The possession arrow gave the ball back to the Vikings and with 9 seconds remaining Anthony Hilliard kissed two-points off the glass for a one point ECSU advantage. After a called Marauder time out with 5.5 second left Robert Harris's shot missed it mark and the follow by Brandon Price was ruled no good as the time had expired.

Central State (2-4), who were the defending tournament champions were paced by Robert Harris with a team high 23 points.

The Vikings had three in double figures as Trent Bivens and DeJuan Morrison each tallied 11 points apiece while Anthony Hilliard collected his 40th career double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
