DURHAM, NC- It took an extra five minutes however the North Carolina Central Eagles held on for a 77-71 overtime win over Elizabeth City State University Tuesday night at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium.

After staring down the barrel of an 18-point halftime hole, the Vikings climbed their way back into the game shooting nearly 50% from the field in the second half. They also held the Eagles to a horrid 6-for-24 from the floor in the second stanza as NCCU was out-scored 39-12 by the Vikings. In the extra session the Eagles reversed their fortunes from the floor going 5-for-6 and were a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line en route to outscoring the Vikings 16-10.

Despite the loss, ECSU held the edge in rebounding 44-40, points in the paint, 46-32, points off turnovers 31-15, and bench points 31-12. The Eagles (10-12, CIAA 6-10) placed four in double figures led by Jason Hervey's 22 points.

Jabyron Wilson collected his first double-double of the season posting career highs of 17 points and 15 rebounds while Anthony Hilliard finished with a team high 21 points.
