ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Senior guard Olajuwon Johnson scored 13 of his game high 21 points in the second half as Elizabeth City State University defeated Johnson C. Smith University 69-61 Tuesday night at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

The Vikings nearly squandered a 14 point lead late in the game as JCSU closed the contest on a 14-8 run and on a Ryan Scott 3-pointer with 51 seconds left the Vikings' comfort was a slim 63-61 margin. Fortunately for ECSU that would be the Golden Bulls' final field goal and a jumper by Johnson with 31 seconds left followed by 4-for 4 free throw shooting by Anthony Hilliard and Matt Nowlin gave the Vikings the 8-point victory The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the CIAA.

Jerry Hollis led his team with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds while James Dillard added 15 points.

Kenyan Alston fell a rebound short of a double-double with 14 points and 9 boards and Anthony Hilliard collected the 21st double-double of his career with 13 and 10.
