VIKINGS RALLY TO DEFEAT LIVINGSTONE 69-64

Feb. 7, 2006

Final Stats

SALISBURY, NC- The Elizabeth City State Vikings came from behind to defeat Livingstone College 69-64 Tuesday night in William Trent Gymnasium.

Maurice Wilkerson came off the bench to lead ECSU finishing with a season high 16 points. Senior Mitchell Moffatt was instrumental in the come-from behind win as he scored all of his 12 points in the second half.

After a tightly contested first half the Blue Bears led ECSU 32-30 at the break. In the second stanza, Livingstone would dominate the first 10 minutes building a 12-point cushion after a lay-up by Terrance Jones. After a called timeout then the Vikings defense took over limiting the Blue Bears to only two field goals over the final 8:08. Free throws kept LC close but with 40 second remaining, Moffatt scored and was sent to the free throw line for being fouled in the process. He would convert the free throw and a subsequent Blue Bear miss led to a lay-up on the opposite end by Wilkerson for the final score.

The Blue Bears (6-16, CIAA 2-10) were paced by Terrance Jones and Jacolby Poe with 17 and 12 points, respectively.

The Vikings will return to action on Thursday, February 9 as they host Johnson C. Smith University. The game, which will be broadcast live on ESPNU, will tip off at 9:00pm at the RL Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
