CHARLOTTE, NC - It didn't take long for a conference honor to come in for Elizabeth City State freshman John Early as he was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Linebacker of the Week after his first collegiate game. The Southport, North Carolina freshman put on an impressive defensive effort for the Vikings in their season opener.
 
Earley showed up in a big way for the Vikings. He finished the game with seven tackles (six solo) in the game, including a tackle for a loss. He also added a pass breakup.
 
The Vikings will return to action this weekend when the team heads to Durham, North Carolina to take on the North Carolina Central University Eagles.
