ECSU Falls in Nail-Biter, 67-66
Richmond, VA. – The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) men's basketball team fought down to the wire but came up just short in a thrilling 66-67 loss on Tuesday night. The game featured seven lead changes and seven ties, as the Vikings battled fiercely in this CIAA showdown.
ECSU struggled with efficiency early but found their rhythm in the second half. They trailed 40-30 at halftime but ramped up their defensive intensity in the second half, forcing their opponent into a cold shooting stretch. The Vikings chipped away at the lead, fueled by key buckets from Eads Jr. and Raynor. Williams controlled the glass, helping ECSU gain second-chance opportunities, and a late three-pointer by Harris brought them within striking distance.
With under a minute remaining, ECSU had a chance to take the lead but couldn't convert on a contested shot in the lane. The game was sealed at the free-throw line, with ECSU falling just short in the final moments.
