Elizabeth City, NC ------ The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) Vikings delivered a commanding performance on Community Education Day in their matchup against Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU), securing a resounding 113-18 victory in the R.L. Vaughan Center. The Vikings showcased their depth, skill, and teamwork, overwhelming their opponents from start to finish.
From the opening tip-off, ECSU established dominance with a relentless full-court press, forcing 33 turnovers and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities. Their defensive intensity held MACU to just 18 points on 18.6% shooting from field.
Imani Sutton led the Vikings defensively with 5 steals and a block.
On offense, everyone who played scored with 6 players scoring in double-figures.
Jada Nowlin led the Vikings with 15 points to set the tone for her team.
Ja'yah King-Johnson also shined, adding 12 rebounds and energizing the team with her hustle on both ends of the floor.
ECSU's ability to control the boards was another key factor in the lopsided outcome. The Vikings out-rebounded MACU 55 to 13, creating second-chance opportunities and limiting the Mustangs' ability to get into any offensive rhythm!
With this victory, ECSU improves to 3-4, solidifying their position as a team to watch this season. The Vikings will aim to carry their momentum into their next matchup against Chowan University in Murfreesboro on December 4 at 5 PM.
