ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- The Elizabeth City State University women's basketball team earned a 65–48 CIAA victory over Lincoln (Pa.) on Feb. 18 at the R. L. Vaughan Center.
The Vikings set the tone early, outscoring the Lions 20–12 in the opening quarter and extending the lead to 34–23 at halftime. Elizabeth City State continued to control the game in the third quarter with another 20-point period to maintain a comfortable advantage heading into the final frame.
Tionna Pettus led the Vikings with a game-high 17 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds to record a double-double. She was efficient at the free-throw line, converting 8-of-10 attempts.
Karina Scott added 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers, while Kailyn Young contributed 11 points and four rebounds off the bench. Jada Clark chipped in 10 points and dished out a team-high six assists.
Elizabeth City State controlled the boards with a 38–37 rebounding edge and forced 22 Lincoln turnovers, converting them into 19 points. The Vikings also received a strong contribution from their bench, which totaled 28 points in the victory.
Lincoln was led by Kaziah Akinniyi with 10 points, while Jasmine Shelton and Alaila Walker each added nine points.
The Vikings improved to 5–19 overall and 2–13 in CIAA play with the win.
