The ECSU Vikings faced a tough challenge against the Chowan Hawks, falling 67- 48 in a hard-fought women's basketball matchup. Despite a strong effort from ECSU, Chowan's dominance on the boards proved to be the deciding factor, as the Hawks secured an impressive 58 rebounds, including 29 offensive rebounds, compared to ECSU's 26 total rebounds.
ECSU's offensive efforts were led by scoring leaders
Londen Coleman and
Asaya Bulgin, who each contributed 12 points. Despite,
Jada Clark's 5 assists, the Vikings struggled to generate consistent offense against Chowan's physical play in the paint. Still, they found some success defensively, notching an impressive 14 steals to create opportunities in transition.
While Chowan controlled the boards and pace of the game, ECSU's defensive pressure and resilience shone through as a bright spot. The Vikings will look to build on their defensive intensity when they hit the floor again on December 14 at UNC-Pembroke at 6:30 PM.
