Elizabeth City, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Viking Football team will open their season at home versus South Atlantic Conference opponent Catawba, at Roebuck Stadium at 1 PM.
Tomorrow is Education Day at Roebuck Stadium. The ECSU Athletic Department will recognize all ECSU faculty and staff as well as the ECPPS faculty and staff at halftime.
GAME NOTES
-Â Marcus Hilliard is entering his second season as Head Coach of the Mighty Vikings
- The Vikings return their leading passer in Chase Williams and Darian King from last season, who were both freshman in 2022
- ECSU was active in recruitment landing standout receiver Quinzel Lockhart
- This will be the first game for Tyler Haines as Catawba Head Coach
- Catawba will have a new quarterback under center in Preston Brown
- Elizabeth City State finished 2-8 in 2022 with wins over Winston-Salem State and Lincoln (Pa).
- CODE BLUE: The Vikings have a new Defensive Coordinator in David Castillo
- Vikings lose leading tackler in Jaunya Majette. Tracey White and Demorian Smith step into that Linebacker spot for the Vikings
- ECSU was tabbed for eighth in the 12-team CIAA, while Catawba was picked 11th under first-year head coach Tyler Haines preseason SAC Coaches' poll
