Salisbury, NC- The Lady Vikings Bowling team went 3-1 on the first day of the CIAA Event II today at Woodleaf Lanes in Salisbury, NC. The Vikings are excited to compete this weekend after missing the first CIAA event of the season due to Covid-19 protocol.

The Vikings defeated Virginia State 627-591 in the first game to get off to what would be a strong day. After dropping the second game to Bowie State 771-644, the Vikings cashed in on  tenth-frame spares by Trinity Evans, Kennedi Williams, and Bryann Loftus to squeeze out a 621-619 victory.  ECSU finished the day of dismantling Virginia State, 577-488.

Makyla Grant led the Vikings' first 2 games, recoding scores of 140 and 134, before Bryann Loftus closed with 157 and 153 efforts.

Today's victories were very huge for Hawkins who is in his third season at the helm of the program. Coach Hawkins has been dedicated to building up the ECSU Bowling program, fighting to build solid footing within the conference to compete and recruit.

"The ladies were excited to face an actual opponent today, and securing a few wins will go along way in keeping us motivated going forward", Head Coach, Mike Hawkins said after the event.  

The CIAA event will continue Saturday with traditional team matches, before closing with Bakers' Style matches on Saunday.
