ECSU Women’s Bowling Battles at CIAA Round-Up

Fayetteville, NC– The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) women's bowling team put forth a competitive effort at the CIAA Round-Up, facing tough opposition across both traditional and Baker matches. The Vikings secured multiple victories but also encountered strong performances from their opponents.

Traditional Matches (Feb. 22)
ECSU opened against Fayetteville State (FSU), falling 661-889 despite a solid showing from Jasmine Burks' 148, Tatiana Miller's 136 and Amelia Harris' 132.

In their second match against Livingstone College (LC), ECSU fought hard but ultimately fell 671-714. Tatiana Miller led the team with 163, while Harris (156) and Jasmine Burks (138) also contributed.

The Vikings rebounded in their third match, securing a 626-513 win over Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), with Madison Jones (149) and Burks (138) anchoring the team.

Facing Shaw University (SU) in their fourth match, ECSU fell 635-736, despite Harris' strong 162 and Miller's 136.

Against LC in their fifth match, the Vikings fell just short, 667-703, with Harris (158) and Kiannah Moore (149) leading the effort. However, ECSU ended the traditional matches on a high note, defeating JCSU 719-591 behind Harris' 172 and Miller's 164 in their best performance of the day.

Baker Matches (Feb. 23)
The Vikings started the Baker matches strong, earning a 784-735 victory over SU with Game 1 (138-141), Game 2 (162-150), Game 3 (178-192), Game 4 (149-132), and game 5 (157-120) pushing the Vikings past SU.

ECSU continued their momentum with a dominant 685-541 win against JCSU with Game 1 (118-98), Game 2 (106-103), Game 3 (191-118), Game 4 (131-122), and Game 5 (139-100).

In their third match, ECSU faced LC but fell 673-741. Game 1 (156-189), Game 2 (121-127), Game 3 (107-158), Game 4 (129-143), and Game 5 (160-128).

The competition concluded with a tough match against FSU, where ECSU fell 652-940. Game 1 (151-177), Game 2 (117-201), Game 3 (151-174), Game 4 (127-164), and Game 5 (106-224).

Looking Ahead
ECSU showcased high scoring games and showed resiliency with unfamiliar conference opponents. As the Vikings look past the CIAA Round-Up they prepare for CIAA Event III in Bowie, MD, March 14-16.
