Cary, NC---Â The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) women's bowling team wrapped up CIAA Event 1 with a strong performance, finishing tied for second in the North Division. Across two days, ECSU posted several impressive games, including a team-high score of 856, one of the top scores of the weekend.
Day 1 Recap:
ECSU went 2-3 in their five matches. They faced Bowie State twice, falling short in both matches with scores of 607-821 and 648-721. They also lost to Virginia State 640-681. However, ECSU defeated Virginia Union in both matchups, posting scores of 665-639 and an impressive 856-705 to close the day. The team racked up a total of 3,416 pins for the day.
Individually, Amelia Harris led ECSU with a five-game total of 799, highlighted by a game-high 221. Madison Jones and Tatiana Miller also had strong showings with totals of 764 and 729, respectively. Jasmine Burks and Kiannah Moore added totals of 544 and 580, rounding out ECSU's scoring.
Day 2 Recap:
On the second day, ECSU finished 2-2. They split matches with Virginia State, losing 545-605 before winning 644-610, and they also fell to Virginia Union 654-715. ECSU secured a highlight win over defending champions Bowie State with a decisive 792-677. They completed the day with a total of 2,635 pins, bringing their weekend total to 6,051 pins and a 4-5 overall record.
Amelia Harris once again led ECSU with a four-game total of 598, with a high score of 196. Tatiana Miller was close behind, finishing with 576, and Kiannah Moore contributed with 538. Madison Jones and Jasmine Burks also added scores of 478 and 445, respectively.
Overall, ECSU defeated Virginia Union twice and notched a notable win against the defending champions, Bowie State, to tie for second place in the CIAA North Division. The team's consistency and high scores, especially their 856, marked a strong start to the season and a solid showing in the division standings.
