ETTRICK, VA. -- The Elizabeth City State women's and men's cross country team started their 2019 campaign with a strong showing at the Virginia State Season Opening Invite on Friday afternoon.

The women's team placed second in the invite as four Viking runners finished in the top-15 of the event. Felicia Jackson led ECSU with a 23:39 time.

The men's team placed third as Jaylan Hunter paced the Viking effort with an 11th place showing while posting a 30:35 time.

The Vikings will be back in action next week at Virginia State.
