ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- Elizabeth City State fell 79–44 to Bluefield State in CIAA action Saturday afternoon at the R.L. Vaughan Center. The Big Blues used a decisive third-quarter run to break the game open and pull away for the road victory.
Bluefield State led 41–16 at halftime before extending the margin with a 32-point third quarter, capitalizing on turnovers and fast-break opportunities. ECSU showed improved offensive efficiency in the second half but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Jada Clark led the Vikings with a team-high 14 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting. Trinity Smith added eight points off the bench, while Tionna Pettus chipped in seven. Alexis Staton recorded a strong all-around performance with six points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
Bluefield State was paced by Leniyah Fulsom's game-high 17 points, with Azori Edwards adding 11 and Jhakia Gist contributing 12. The Big Blues forced 39 turnovers and turned them into 36 points, while receiving 46 points from their bench to control the contest.
ECSU moves to 3–13 overall and 0–7 in CIAA play, while Bluefield State improves to 10–6 overall and 4–3 in conference action.
