CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) released their week six weekly softball honors on Tuesday with Courtney Ward being named CIAA Rookie of the Week.

Courtney was stellar on both sides for the Lady Vikings hitting .444 in the doubleheader sweep against Bluefield State.  The freshman catcher collected her first collegiate grand slam that sparked the offense in game one.  Ward added three runs scored on the day.

Defensively, Ward notched nine putouts and two assists behind the plate including an inning-ending double-play at the plate to end a Big Blue rally.

This marks the first CIAA weekly honor for Ward and the Lady Vikings this season.
