First Inning Jitters Costly At CIAA Softball Championship

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings Softball team were unable to overcome their first inning woes in their two contests at the 2025 CIAA Softball Championship on Thursday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES

Eboni Bailey picked up two hits on the day notching a hit in both contests.  Bailey collected a double against Claflin and a triple against Fayetteville State

Sophia Simmons went 2-2 and a walk against the Broncos.  Courtney Ward, Karrigan Belangia, and Camdyn Peck recorded one hit each.  Ward tallied two RBI off her double and Peck posted one RBI.

Claflin used a four run first inning to take charge in the opening game before taking the contest 7-1.  Karma Fields put the Lady Vikings on the board in the fourth inning after reaching on a three-base error before scoring on a wild pitch.

In the contest against Fayetteville State, the Broncos pushed across seven runs in the first inning.  The Lady Vikings posted a run in the first, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings to close the gap.

Camdyn Peck would come in relief against Fayetteville State as five unearned runs were scored after the pitching change.

2025 RECAP

The Lady Vikings finished with a 7-26 overall record, improving the win total by one game.  ECSU Softball says farewell to seniors: Karrigan Belangia, Karma Fields, and Reagan Seelye.
