RALEIGH, N.C. -- On Day 2 of the CIAA Roundup in Raleigh, the Elizabeth City State University softball team turned in a dominant showing, sweeping a pair of games against Johnson C. Smith University and Livingstone College.

Game 1 — ECSU 7, Johnson C. Smith 1

The Vikings opened the day with a complete performance, using a 14-hit attack and a strong outing in the circle to secure a 7–1 win.

ECSU struck early with a run in the first inning before adding two more in the second behind RBI hits from Sophia Simmons and Courtney Ward. The Vikings continued to build their lead with single runs in the fourth and a three-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Simmons led the offense with three hits and three runs scored, while Bryn Ernest and Ema Cebrian each added multi-hit performances. Ward contributed two hits and two RBIs.

In the circle, Oreanna Donaldson went the distance, allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out five to earn the win.

Game 2 — ECSU 5, Livingstone 2

In the nightcap, the Vikings capitalized on early opportunities and held off a late push to complete the sweep with a 5–2 victory.

ECSU plated two runs in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Ema Cebrian, and added two more in the second, including a steal of home by Shelby Edwards. Another run in the fourth inning extended the lead to 5–1.

Livingstone chipped away with runs in the fourth and sixth, but Shaina Lugo controlled the game in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run.
