Richmond, VA. – The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on Tuesday night, falling 73-46 in a physical matchup. Despite a strong opening quarter, ECSU struggled with shooting efficiency and rebounding, allowing their opponent to dominate the contest.
The Vikings came out firing, hitting 7-of-15 field goals in the first quarter while keeping the game competitive. However, their offensive momentum slowed considerably as the game progressed. ECSU shot just 21.4% in the second quarter and 15.4% in the fourth, making it difficult to mount a comeback.
Leading the charge for ECSU was Jada Nowlin, who tallied 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Rashauna Grant contributed 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Shikira Perry and Isa Banks each added four points. However, ECSU struggled from beyond the arc, making just one three-pointer on eight attempts (12.5%). Free throw shooting also hindered their effort, as they converted only 9-of-24 attempts (37.5%).
