The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 65-58 victory over Converse University, led by Kayiona Willis' standout performance. Willis scored a game-high 21 points, with 15 of those coming from five made three-pointers, sparking the Vikings' offense throughout the contest.
Isa Banks anchored ECSU on the boards, leading the team with six rebounds, while Rashauna Grant fueled the defensive effort with three steals. The Vikings' relentless defense was pivotal, forcing 24 turnovers and holding Converse to 26 missed shots.
Head Coach Ebony Tanner praised her team's effort and growth after the game, stating, "I'm extremely proud of how hard these young ladies played tonight. We continue to improve every time we step on the court, and that progress was evident in this game. Moving forward, we must stay united, execute our game plans, and focus on the little details."
With the win, ECSU improves to 2-3 on the season. The Vikings will return to action on Friday, November 22nd, when they face Virginia University of Lynchburg at 6 p.m.
