ECSU shot 35.3 percent (30 of 85) from the field, 33.3 percent (3 of 9) from the three, and 50 percent (10 of 20) at the line.

West Virginia State University shot 33.3 percent from the field (23 of 69), made 28.6 percent (8 of 28) from three, and went 61.5 percent (24-39) at the line.

Sophomore guard Aniyah Vanhook (Burlington, NC) led the team in scoring with 16 points. Many people have been paying a lot more attention to Vanhook since she knocked down that thrilling jumpshot at the buzzer in overtime to give the Vikings the win over FSU two days ago at the 252 Invitational.Â

Sireann Pitts (Raleigh, NC) had an outstanding night on the boards with an impressive 13 rebounds.

Destiny Fields led West Virginia State University with 22 points and recorded 6 rebounds.

The Vikings got off to a rocky start after West Virginia State took advantage of a 15-2 run to close the opening quarter after trailing ECSU 10-5 early on.Â

The Vikings battled back and were able to take and maintain the lead in the third quarter heading into the fourth quarter, but the Yellow Jackets won the battle of the fourth quarter outscoring the Vikings 26-20 to tie the game 68-all with a three-pointer at the buzzer Shelby Harmeyer.

Despite a tenacious effort, the Vikings got off to a slow start in overtime and the Yellow Jackets made a 6-0 run on their path to securing the 78-73 victory.  Â
The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday, December 2nd vs Newport News Apprentice School. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 PM.
