Vikings Fall to Lions 74-45

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Vikings suffered a 74-45 loss at the hands of Lincoln University on Tuesday night. 
 
The Vikings drop to 6-8 overall on the season, 2-3 in the CIAA.
 
Junior forward Tiffany McCarter (Raleigh, NC) led the Vikings with 11 points on the night; while junior forward Sydnee Neal (Greenville, NC) led the Vikings on the boards with five.
 
Kwanza Murray led the Lions on both ends the floor totaling 18 points and seven rebounds.
 
ECSU shot 25 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from behind the arc, and 55 percent at the line.
 
Lincoln shot 40 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from behind the arc, and 54.5 percent at the line. 
 
The Vikings benched showed up huge in the contest with a 26-point contribution.
 
ECSU's 14 turnovers resulted in 19 points for the Lions.
 
The Vikings struggled to create offense and find a consistent rhythm as the night progressed. 
 
LU scored 26 second chance points and won the battle of the boards 52-40.
 
Despite the tough matchup the Vikings continued to fight back creating a shift of momentum down the stretch; but it would not be enough to claw their way back into the game. 
 
The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday,  January 9th in the R.L. Vaughan Center to host the Blue Bears of Livingstone College.
