Box Score DURHAM, N.C. -- Playing their second contest against Division I FCS competition during the 2019 football season, the Elizabeth City State University football team dropped a 45-7 decision to North Carolina Central on Saturday evening inside of O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
North Carolina Central jumped out to a 17-0 lead behind a Davius Richard 8 yard touchdown pass to Tyler Barnes, a 23 yard field goal from Adrian Olivo and an Isaiah Totten 43 yard touchdown run.
The Vikings notched their only points of the evening with 6:52 remaining in the second quarter as
Kedrick Patterson connected with
Dajuan Greene for an 11 yard touchdown pass to trail by 10, 17-7.
The Eagles added another touchdown with 1:24 left in the first half as Davius Richard connected on his second touchdown of the afternoon, this one to Latrell Collier, from ten yards out to lead 24-7 at the half.Â
Things did not turn around for the Vikings in the third quarter as NCCU's Jerome Foster picked off
Kedrick Patterson's first pass of the second half and scored to bring NCCU's margin to 31-7.
North Carolina Central registered two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. NCCU's Jordan Freeman scored the first as he rushed for a 36 yard touchdown run. Davius Richard recorded his third touchdown of the evening as he connected with Ryan McDaniel for a 45 yard touchdown pass.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
The Viking offense was led by
Kedrick Patterson who connected of 8-of-17 passes for 55 yards and rushed for 30.
Gregory Bryan registered 34 rushing yards and the longest play from scrimmage with a 25 yard run.
Brandon Joyner led the receiving efforts as he caught six passes for 44 yards.
Defensively,
Juanya' Majette registered eight tackles to lead the Vikings.
Greg Williams Jr. registered six tackles and two tackles for loss.
Christopher Little also registered two tackles for loss for the Vikings. Little and
Traevon Freeman both notched a sack on the evening for the Vikings.
