Box Score 3 CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Elizabeth City State University women's tennis team won their first match of the season by defeating Livingstone 7-0 in the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. The Vikings did drop two other contests at the tournament including a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Winston-Salem State University and the host Johnson C. Smith.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match 1 vs. Winston-Salem State:Â
The Vikings started the weekend off by competing well in the doubles competition against the Rams as both pairings of
Beatriz Neto/
Kaylee Williams, and
Sanda Oo /
Jamiah Faison won two games inside of their matches against the Rams but it wouldn't be enough as the Vikings lost 6-2, 6-2, 6-0 in the doubles competition.Â
On the singles side,
Beatriz Neto lost her match 6-0, 6-2; Tenel Kearney dropped a close match to WSSU's Brown 7-5, 6-1 and
Sanda Oo fell to WSSU's Harris by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Match 2 vs. Livingstone:
The Vikings rebounded in their first match of Sunday against Livingstone as they swept all three doubles matches 6-2, 6-4, and 6-2.
On the singles side of the competition, the Vikings swept all of the competition as
Beatriz Neto won 6-2, 6-4; Tenel Kearney won 7-6, 6-1;
Sanda Oo won 7-6, 6-2; D'Kota Hinton won 6-4, 6-4;
Kaylee Williams won 6-0, 6-1; and
Jamiah Faison defeated her Blue Bear opponent 6-0, 6-1.
Match 3 vs. Johnson C. Smith:
ECSU finished the weekend with a tough defeat at the hands of Johnson C. Smith. The Golden Bulls swept the doubles matches by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. The Vikings fought valiantly in the singles competition but were only able to pick up one game in the three completed matches.
