ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- Elizabeth City State delivered a strong performance at the ECSU Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Virginia Union. The Vikings came out strong for Senior Day, and did not drop a single set against the Panthers. Three student-athletes were recognized as they played their last home match at ECSU; Marley Renner, Reichel Freytes, and Kennedy Rollins.

It was a historic victory for ECSU, earning a key CIAA victory and pushing its season total to seven wins — the program's best overall record since 2011. The Vikings secured their sixth conference win, also a mark not reached since the 2011 season. The milestone reflects the steady growth and competitiveness ECSU Tennis has built throughout the year.

The team showed depth and resilience throughout the match, with contributions across the lineup helping secure the result. From doubles play setting the tone to singles closing things out, the Lady Vikings executed with confidence and composure.

This moment is especially meaningful for the program's veteran leaders — Renner, Freytes, Kennedy Rollins — who have played a major role in the team's development. Their leadership, experience, and commitment have helped elevate the standard and culture of ECSU Tennis.

Credit also goes to Head Coach Roosevelt Cooper, whose guidance has been instrumental in the program's rise. Under his leadership, the Lady Vikings have continued to make strides and position themselves as a competitive force within the CIAA. In just his second year with the program, Coach Roosevelt's 12 career victories already matches the win totals of the previous six years combined.

With momentum on their side and history already made, ECSU looks to continue building as postseason play approaches.
