ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University basketball teams will complete their 2019 regular season slate by welcoming Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Bowie State University for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon inside of the R.L. Vaughan Center.

Bowie State was held to a season-low in points in Wednesday's divisional road game at Virginia State but managed to come away with the 43-33 victory. Redshirt senior
Pere Alexander recorded a game-high 18 points to lead Bowie State and junior
Dynaisha Christian was a beast on the glass for the Bulldogs, pulling down 10 rebounds. Junior
Kyaja Williams added 12 points in the win to go along with four steals, two assists and a pair of blocks.
Bowie State men's team dropped their final road contest of the season to Virginia State on Wednesday evening by a 93-69 score. Junior
Cameron Hayes led the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points while
David Belle and
Saiquan Jamison contributed 15 and 11 points respectively. Jamison just missed a double-double, pulling down a game-high nine rebounds. Junior
Rinardo Perry also scored in double figures, finishing the contest with 10 points.
LAST TIME OUT – ECSU WOMEN AND MEN'S BASKETBALL
Asia Deal scored a team high 13 points as the Elizabeth City State University basketball team dropped their Northern Division contest to Virginia Union on Wednesday evening inside of Barco-Stevens Hall. ECSU was limited by poor shooting from the field, only shooting 29.5 percent from the field for the evening. Virginia Union countered that by shooting 52.2 percent from the field and a blistering 54.2 percent from long range. The Vikings also were hindered by turnovers, committing 22 on the evening, and the Panthers turned that into 23 points.
Junior forward
John Maynor recorded a team-high 14 points as the Elizabeth City State University basketball team dropped their Northern Division contest to Virginia Union, 75-58, on Wednesday evening inside Barco-Stevens Hall.
Justin Faison notched 10 and
Tyjhai Byers scored 10. Byers led the effort on the boards as the junior pulled down eight rebounds on the afternoon.
PROMOTIONS FOR THE CONTEST
It will be Faith and Senior Day for ECSU athletics. There will be promotions throughout the day highlighting the vibrant faith community throughout northeastern North Carolina, including a Pastor's basketball game during halftime of the men's contest. The seniors from the pep band, the cheerleading squad and the men's and women's basketball teams will be honored in between the two games.
